U2 are currently working on afuturistic sounding follow-up to their 2009 effort No Line On The Horizon. According to RedOne, the producer of the as-of-yet untitled LP, the album will see U2 moving in a new direction and"going Sci-fi".
Speaking toBillboard, RedOne confirmed that he has been working with the hit Irish rock band. He said:We've put down a few ideas, but we don't know how many will end up on there. They have a very special way of working. A song is never done until the day before it comes out almost, so you never know.
He continued:They're always experimenting, so it's not like, 'OK, we're finished.' It's still an ongoing process. Bono described {the album as} 'futuristic'. U2 going sci-fi, or something - That's how he described it, but I don't know.
RedOne has worked with the likes of Lady Gaga, Usher and Jennifer Lopez in the past. He is also currently working onX Factor contestant Cher Lloyds debut LP.
U2 have given no indication as to when their thirteenth studio album will be released. The band are set to perform a headline set at this years Glastonbury Festival at Worthy Farm.
