Kanye West, Janelle Monae and Kyuss Lives! Added to Norway’s Øya Festival

Rapper Kanye West is the latest headliner to be confirmed for this year’s Øya Festival in Oslo, Norway. He joins Janelle Monae, James Blake, Lykke Li and Kyuss Lives! as the newest additions to the 2011 line-up. Artists previously announced for Øya Festival include Pulp, Fleet Foxes, Wiz Khalifa, Bring Me The Horizon and Warpaint. Also among the newly-confirmed actsare Jamie xx and Crystal Fighters. Øya Festival 2011 will take place from the 9th to the 13th of August and follows last year’s event, which saw performances from the likes of Pavement, MIA, Iggy and the Stooges, the Flaming Lips, the xx and the Specials. The first Øya Festival was held in Oslo in 1999, when it attracted a modest crowd of 1000 people. It has since become one of the biggest events on the Norwegian musical calendar and draws around 60,000 festival goers each year.
